The Bridgeport Hotel in Murray Bridge is marking the first anniversary of its doors opening on June 8, 2021 after a $45 million redevelopment.

During a whirlwind year, the Bridgeport has hosted around 8564 accommodation guests, served more than 94,370 quality meals, poured more than 172,890 schooners of tap beer and survived several lockdowns.

Despite the tribulations it has faced in its first year, the Bridgeport Hotel has proudly received the regional hotel of the year award at the 2022 AHA National Awards for Excellence, plus the best overall hotel and best redeveloped hotel in country SA at the 2021 AHA SA awards.

The Bridgeport Hotel will celebrate its birthday by saying thank you to the Murray Bridge community on Friday, June 24 with solo acoustic music in the lounge plus light snacks and happy hour in the Cods front bar from 5pm to 8pm.

The Bridgeport Hotel is also giving away two prizes of an overnight stay for two in a riverside balcony suite, with breakfast included.

To enter, simply spend more than $30 in a transaction in the hotel’s bars, restaurant or bottle shop between now and next Friday, June 24.

The prize will be drawn after 5pm next Friday.

The general manager of the Bridgeport, Ian Muller, praised the owners for their vision.

“It is such an incredible achievement to have a hotel of this calibre in the beautiful Murraylands,” he said.

“It is testament to the courage and commitment of the owners to bring this vision to life for travellers from all over to enjoy.

“The team and I are honoured to be a part of this amazing venture and look forward to the exciting years ahead.”

The owners of EDP Hotels, Graham Hobbs and Ian Tregoning, believed Murray Bridge had been long overdue for high-quality accommodation which would act as a springboard for local tourism.

“The Bend, Monarto zoo, golf, horse racing and all forms of river activities will all benefit enormously from the Bridgeport Hotel redevelopment,” they said.

“Tourism in SA will have a new focal point in the Murray Bridge region, helping all local businesses to flourish.”
