I honestly feel that the amount spent on fireworks could be put to much greater use. With so many residents struggling to survive these days, why not cater for a huge meal (a long street party down Bridge Road?). Those who could afford it could pay for a meal, while others that are struggling could have theirs subsidised by the money saved on the purchase & infrastructure required to put on the fireworks display. Pet owners would be relieved that there is less stress for their beloved fur-babies as well as native animals & birds. Murray River Splash should, however, be continued. The risk of fire is very real, and the number of volunteers for the CFS and other Service Clubs is declining. It's time that some of the younger people who want to see more activities in Murray Bridge stepped up & joined these organisations so that there are more people to support these initiatives.

The fireworks is one thing. But to cancel Splash. So now what will the town propose for the youth of our town and visitors travelling to Murray Bridge. I know the budget is tight. So all we can do is send them to the pool and activities around town.

I agree, the fireworks is upseting but I can see the reasoning. I cannot see the reeasoning to cancel Splash. Especially without proposing to replace it with anything around the same time of year.
