Coorong residents will notice a new rubbish truck picking up their bins from next week.

Solo Resource Recovery will begin operating in the district on Monday.

Residents’ bin days will not change – household bins will still need to be put out before 6am on the same day each week.

Mayor Paul Simmons said the council looked forward to working with the new operator.

“We are mindful of minimising any disruptions to services already in place that our residents rely on and are pleased that we can continue collections as normal,” he said.

The council will also continue to operate its four waste transfer stations, including the one at Tailem Bend, on Wednesdays and Sundays as normal.

The council did not indicate a reason for having ended its partnership with the previous rubbish collection operator, Cleanaway.

However, residents were notified about six service interruptions during the first eight months of this year.

Bins were collected a little later than usual on various dates due to mechanical breakdowns and staffing issues; and a day late in areas including Meningie and Wellington East in May due to driver availability.

Any residents who experience issues with the new operator should call Solo Resource Recovery on 8295 5077.

The same company already handles Murray Bridge residents’ rubbish.
