Cycling club members compete in Ballarat
Four Murraylands Cycling Club members have represented their club at the recent Australian Road Nationals in Ballarat.
Murraylands Cycling Club members James Hand, Bill Robinson, Adam Bright and Phil McGee all acquitted themselves well in the national cycling competition.
James Hand, riding for Van D’am Racing in his last year in the under 19 men’s at national level, pushed himself by entering three events.
Hand wanted to improve his results from last year and gain experience in national-level racing.
Although fatigue affected his performance in the second and third events, he achieved a strong result in the 15-lap criterium race, finishing 28th among 40 of the best riders in Australia.
“I ended up lasting the full race and was able to finish, which was my major win for the weekend and one of my main goals,” Hand said.
The three other Murraylands Cycling Club members combined to form Team Murraylands and compete in the Gran Fondo 150-plus team category.
Bright rode in the 19–34 age group, and McGee and Robinson rode in the 60–64 age group.
Robinson achieved third place in his age group and a position on the podium.
Sprintcars Speedweek opening night held in Murray Bridge
The opening night of the four-night Clay-Per-View Sprintcars Speedweek kicked off on December 27 at Murray Bridge Speedway.
The 35-lap A-main series drew a large crowd despite the scorching weather.
At the end of the night, Victorian Jamie Veal lead the point score in the Sprintcars Speedweek battle, followed by Tasmanian Jock Goodyer, South Aussie Luke Dillon, Texan Chase Randall and South Aussie Ryan Jones rounding out the top five in points.

Murray Bridge local does well in Melbourne tennis competition
Murray Bridge resident Anne Rossiter travelled to Melbourne recently to compete in the  Australian PWII Tennis Championships, for persons with an intellectual impairment.
Ms Rossiter came runner-up in singles in her section.
