The Murray Bridge council is holding a public consultation on whether the Murray Bridge Community Centre should continue to operate at its current location on Beatty Terrace.

The community centre is seeking a new lease for the next 10 years, and the council wants to hear the community’s opinions on this.

The community centre is an independent, not-for-profit organisation which offers various services and activities to promote personal growth, including legal and financial advice, yoga, art classes, veggie gardening and short courses.

In addition, it provides showers and laundry services for homeless people.

Heather Barclay, the council’s assets and infrastructure general manager, encouraged local citizens to have their say over the community centre’s location.

“We go out to the community for comment when we consider new leases for council-owned buildings, because it’s important the community has a say in how those assets are managed,” she said.

A feedback form and map are available on the council’s consultation portal, Let’s Talk, and paper copies are available at the council office on Seventh Street and the Murray Bridge Library.

As well as the Beatty Terrace site, the community centre is in the process of opening a second site on Edwards Square.
