For the first time in three years, Murray Bridge’s Christmas pageant will be back on the streets this November.
Float registrations are now open for this year’s parade, which will start at the top end of Bridge Street and meander down to the riverfront from 4pm on November 19.
Community groups, schools, childcare centres, kindies, sporting clubs and not-for-profit organisations will all be able to enter floats free of charge.
Sponsor businesses will also be able to join the parade, so long as their floats maintain a Christmas theme.
Business Murray Bridge chair Nathan Gates said it was going to be the biggest event since before COVID.
“A rejuvenated, refreshed Business Murray Bridge is excited to be able to return the parade to the streets of Murray Bridge after the pandemic,” he said.
Floats will assemble on West Terrace before parading down Bridge Street, Seventh Street and Mary Terrace to Sturt Reserve.
Rides, food vendors and entertainment will be waiting there as part of the annual riverfront Christmas festival, which will conclude with a fireworks show at 9pm.
This year’s Christmas events will again be hosted by Business Murray Bridge and AOK Events, with support from sponsor businesses.
Last year’s Christmas parade was held entirely at a fenced-off Sturt Reserve to satisfy SA Health requirements, while the 2020 event was cancelled at the last minute due to a COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide.
