As someone who works in business development right across the Murraylands and Riverland, Julie Bates leads a busy life.

The convenience of getting the latest local news sent straight to her email inbox every week is why she has been a Murray Bridge News subscriber almost since the beginning.

“I get to know what’s going on around town, or maybe get some of the truth behind the gossip,” she said.

She liked supporting a locally owned and operated business, she said – but that wasn’t the only reason she paid for a subscription.

“It’s about supporting local news for the masses,” she said.

“If we don’t subscribe, (Murray Bridge News) won’t exist.”

Her loyalty was rewarded last month, when she was randomly selected as the winner of this publication’s monthly subscriber giveaway.

She walked out of our office with $184 worth of prizes, including a family pass to Monarto Safari Park, three films on DVD, a double pass to the Capri Theatre and some Murray Bridge News merch.

Murray Bridge News will give away another prize to a paying subscriber next month.

So, by supporting us, you’re not just helping us tell important local stories like that of Aaron Mann and the workers who restored the old Murray Bridge; advocate for Ngarrindjeri people who wanted their voices to be heard during the referendum campaign; cover community events and meetings after hours and on weekends; and unearth stories you simply won’t find anywhere else.

You’re also supporting a local business and giving yourself a chance to win.
