John DeMichele wants to get more heavy vehicles off Murray Bridge’s roads
You'll never get every truck off Hindmarsh and Maurice Roads, the council candidate says, but residents deserve to have their fears addressed.

Every day, hundreds of B-doubles and semi-trailers rumble through the western end of Murray Bridge.
It has been that way along Hindmarsh Road, Maurice Road and Cypress Terrace for years.
But residents who have lived in the area for decades say the traffic is getting dangerous.
Council candidate John DeMichele agrees – and if he is re-elected, he hopes to get something done about it.
“We need a new OD route,” he says.
The question is: where could a new route go?
Almost all of the land in Murray Bridge’s west has been earmarked for housing.
What about taking a longer way around, from the freeway up through Monarto?
Could Schenscher Road, Pallamana Road and Wagenknecht Road be upgraded?
Whatever the answer, these are issues the next Murray Bridge council will need to start thinking about.
“We’ll probably have to lobby the state and federal governments,” John says.
“We know the government is a slow-turning wheel, but if we don’t start now, we’ll never get to the other end.”
John DeMichele knows that Murray Bridge is a great place to live.
If re-elected, he will work to keep it that way – including by reducing the number of heavy vehicles passing through a fast-growing residential area.
“We’re not going to get every truck off the road,” he says.
“But we have to get rid of the trucks that go straight through Murray Bridge to get to the other side.
“We need to action it sooner than later.”
