Help make Christmas more appealing for Murraylands’ people in need
As Christmas sneaks up, the Murraylands Christmas Appeal is asking the community to support people in the region who are in need during the holiday season.
For the annual Murraylands Christmas Appeal, the Murray Bridge council has teamed with AC Care, the Salvation Army and Vinnies to collect donations of food and toys for those whose Christmases need brightening.
Murray Bridge mayor Wayne Thorley acknowledged that Christmas was not such a joyous event for everyone.
“The pressures of Christmas can be very stressful for people in need, and your generosity and support will go a long way,” he said.
“In the past, the appeal successfully reached hundreds of vulnerable families and provided toys for many children.
“Our community organisations could not have reached this many people without the valued assistance from our generous community members.”
People who wish to support the appeal can donate money directly to their charity of choice; in-date non-perishable food items; and unwrapped toys suitable for children under the age of 14 years old.
Monetary donations or cash cards should be given directly to the charity of choice, which will issue a tax-deductible receipt upon request.
Donated goods can be handed to the offices of each charity before Thursday, November 16, 2023.
All food donations will be given to Food Bank for distribution.
Your donations will be included in hampers for local families and people in need.
Donation forms can be found here.
