A Wynarka farmer has escaped from a header which caught on fire at their property on Monday.

The Country Fire Service was called out to a farm on Moorlands Road around 5.45pm.

The property’s owner managed to get out of the header without injury, and four CFS crews contained the fire to a three-hectare area of grass.

However, the fire still caused an estimated $90,000 worth of damage, mostly owing to the loss of the machinery.

Fire threat passes at Monarto South

Meanwhile, the threat from a fire at Monarto South has passed, the Country Fire Service says.

The grass fire started in Ferries McDonald Conservation Park, near Altmann Road, around or before 5.15pm on Sunday.

Airborne water bombers were called in within 20 minutes.

However, by 7.50pm the CFS advised that the danger had passed.

The fire was the second significant fire in the Monarto area in two weeks, following a haystack fire at Adelaide Mushrooms earlier this month.
