A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and it’s no different for Tailem Bend’s favourite metalworking company, either.

RPCutters is the new name for the former Regional Profile Cutters, reflecting the fact that they offer so much more than just profile-cut sheet metal.

The Wicker family’s business has flourished as a maker of uniquely Australian gifts – a focus acknowledged in RPCutters’ new logo.

Eucalyptus leaves and blue wrens feature in an updated design by head designer Katherine Wicker.

“Our old name and logo didn’t match the work we were doing,” Katherine says.

“People saw ‘Regional Profile Cutters’ and thought we trimmed trees or something.

“We’re proud to make decorative metal artwork, much of it featuring Australian animals, and make it here in Australia.”

If you’re not yet familiar with RPCutters’ work, you’ll probably find some in a town near you.

The company’s garden decorations, gates, privacy screens and signage can be seen all over the Murraylands, in every state of Australia and even around the world.

See the range for yourself at the new website: www.rpcutters.com.au.

The business specialises in cutting artworks in mild steel, aluminium and corten, but can cut anything that conducts electricity, including checker plate, galvinised steel, copper and brass.

A unique feature of RPCutters’ metalwork is their ability to use vinyl or powder coating to add colour and bring their creations to life.

They have also been granted permission by the Department of Defence to use the official logos of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force in their artwork.

RPCutters reduce waste by using every piece of metal they can, reusing paper to pack customer orders and recycling scrap at a local metal yard.

Every member of the Wicker family contributes to the business, including David, who has Down syndrome and is popular on tours for showing how he cleans up mild steel.

After running out of biological family members, John, Helen, Katherine and David expanded the RPCutters family to include Brendan Lambe, Matthew Hattam and, most recently, Matthew Hughes and Julia Nicholls.

Best of all, RPCutters are certified Australian made and owned.
