Optus outage affects Murraylands residents, businesses
Customers across Australia were left without phones or internet on Wednesday, and our region has not escaped unscathed.
Many phones and internet services across the Murraylands have begun working again after a nationwide Optus outage on Wednesday.
As many as 10 million customers across the country were affected, including businesses and government services.
Locally, some businesses’ EFTPOS facilities and even ATMs were put out of service.

In a one-sentence statement on its website, the company said only that “an issue” was affecting mobile, fixed internet and phone services.
“We are working to restore services as quickly as possible,” it said.
Staff at Optus in Murray Bridge printed out a sign saying “nation wide outage” and stuck it out the front of their store to answer the question on everyone’s lips.
Half a dozen customers came past the store to ask what was happening in the few minutes Murray Bridge News was there.
