The playground at Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge should be ready to play on soon, according to the local council.
The Murray Bridge council has been fixing damage to the region’s assets and infrastructure after the recent floods and making sure that such things as roads and playgrounds are safe to use again.
Its community flood recovery plan is designed to inform the community about the council’s flood recovery efforts and the role that the council plays in those efforts.

According to the plan, the playground – and those at Thiele Reserve and Woodlane Reserve – are due to reopen this month.
Engineering and insurance assessments of flood-affected council assets up to the end of April totalled $1.32 million, and these costs continued to rise.
The plan stated that while the council was undertaking the required remediation works, making its assets safe for the public was “of the utmost importance”, so some of the assets may remain closed for extended periods.
As at July 31, the following facilities remain closed or restricted until further notice, with barriers remaining in place to prevent access to areas not yet cleared for public safety:
Roads closed
- Burgess Road, Sunnyside – open to local traffic with a 3-tonne load limit
- Hutchinson Drive, Toora
- Kallaroo Road, Mypolonga
- Lake Reserve Road, Mulgundawah
- North Bokara Road, from Mayama Road to Green Street, Mypolonga
- Pump Road, Toora
- Rothe Lane, Mypolonga
- Tempi Road, Mypolonga
- Toora Road, from Kuchel Drive to Toora Hill Road, Toora
Roads open, with 3-tonne load limits
- Hill Road, Mypolonga
- Kuchel Drive, from Kuchel Road to Toora Road, Mobilong
- Rivergum Drive, Mypolonga
- Toora Road, from Kuchel Drive to Doyle Road, Toora
Reserves closed
- Areas of Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge: playground; covered jetty; wharf precinct fenced-off section, including heritage wharf, pump shed and pump station
- Thiele Reserve playground, Thiele Road, Murray Bridge
- Woodlane Reserve playground, Mypolonga
- Areas of Rocky Gully Wetlands: walking paths; footbridge
- Lake Reserve, Mulgundawah
Jetties closed
- Covered jetty, Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge
Walking trails closed
- Rocky Gully Wetlands, Murray Bridge: walking path and footbridge
- Riverfront Road walking trail
Footpaths closed
- Rocky Gully Wetlands, Murray Bridge: alongside Rocky Gully Wetlands drain east of Swamp Road Bridge
The council’s plan shows that its timeframes to fix and reinstate assets that have been impacted by floods include the following:
- Roads: late 2023
- Wharves and jetties: unknown
- Boat ramps: repairs completed
- Footpaths: repairs completed
- Waste clean-up: ongoing
