Nine people have been injured in a boating accident on the River Murray at Wall Flat.

The boat is believed to have run into something under the surface of the water just before 7pm on Saturday.

It ended up tangled up in the willow trees along the river bank.

State Emergency Service and Country Fire Service volunteers, paramedics and police rescued the boat’s occupants, all aged in their 20s.

Only one person, the driver, was seriously hurt - they were airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The other eight people received only minor injuries.

Police urged everyone to use caution at all times on the river, and especially at night.
