New clubrooms to transform Mannum's cricket club
After nearly five years without them, Mannum cricket club have been successfully granted funds to start building new clubrooms.

It's been a long time coming for the Mannum Cricket Club, who after nearly five years have gone without clubrooms.
For the past few seasons, the club has been operating out of borrowed spaces; storing equipment across sheds on the grounds and player's homes.
Last years Murray Town Cricket Association A grade premiers will now benefit from:
- Male and female changerooms
- Toilets
- Office space
- Kitchen area
- Bar facilities
Zac Muirhead, Mannum Cricket Club secretary said it's a win for not only the cricket club but Mannum's sporting community.
“We started small, getting the cricket nets built, which gave us a bit of confidence to go for the bigger grants.
The club secured funding through the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s Community Recreation, and the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund.
"But it’s been a lot of getting knocked back, updating quotes, and keeping at it.”
“The hardest thing has been not having proper storage, and also for spectators, especially older people, it’s hot in summer, and there’s nowhere comfortable to sit and watch,” Mr Muirhead said.
“Last year, our female players didn’t really have anywhere private to get changed, it wasn’t fair.
"These new clubrooms will make a huge difference and help us grow women’s cricket and participation in the sport generally.
“We’re really looking forward to finally having our own space again.”
Construction is set to kick off in the near future, with the hopes of completion in the next 12 months.

The club would like to thank Michael Holliday for his hard work with his drafting and planning expertise and president Travis Gladigau.
The club were able to secure the maximum amount of funding possible at approximately $165,000.
“We’re working with local builders and contractors to keep costs down, and we’ll definitely be looking for local support to help get it finished," Mr Muirhead said.
