New Bunnings will be Murray Bridge’s biggest ever retail store
A hardware store opening this weekend will set records for the regional centre.

Murray Bridge’s biggest ever retail store is about to open its doors.
With about 7600 square metres of retail space, the $16 million Bunnings outlet – which will begin trading on Friday – is bigger than any the city has seen before.
For those interested in regional rivalries, it will be bigger than Mount Barker’s, too.
The company hired more than 40 new staff over the past few months in preparation for its move from a smaller store on the corner of Adelaide and Maurice Roads.
Murray Bridge News was able to get a sneak peek ahead of opening day – watch the video above for a quick tour.
Complex manager Jade Sander, who transferred from Adelaide to take the helm at the new store on Maurice Road, said her staff were excited about opening its doors.
“The team have been working flat out over the last few weeks to get the store ready for opening day,” she said.
“We can’t wait to show the local community what we have to offer.”
The new store’s features will include a cafe, playground and drive-through, undercover timber yard.
The company has various celebrations planned for next weekend, including an official opening.
It is not yet clear what will happen to the old store, which the company had leased and will vacate over the coming weeks.
Bunnings is far from the only hardware store in Murray Bridge, though the market became a little less crowded with the closure of the Mitre 10 on South Terrace last year.
National chain Stratco still has a store on Hindmarsh Road, while companies such as Bridge Building Supplies and Lower Murray Timber provide supplies to local builders.
The new Bunnings was at least three years in the making.
