Murray Bridge's Fiegert family is fighting childhood cancer – here's how you can help
A charity called Redkite needs your support to continue helping a local family and thousands of others around Australia.
Lisa Fiegert is doing her best for her boys.
Her youngest, Nicholas, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer at the age of three: rhabdomyosarcoma, which forms in muscle tissue.
That was seven months ago.
Since then Ms Fiegert has left her nursing job to devote more time to caring for her little man, including numerous trips to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.
“We’re still really in the thick of it and we’re so fatigued by the ups and downs,” she said.
“We are all trying to be strong and band together and be positive, but you add tiredness, travel and money stress to it and it’s insane, the amount of pressure it puts on the whole family.”

Childhood cancer charity Redkite has been providing the Fiegert family with financial support during their challenging journey, helping them fill up the car, buy food and pay the bills.
Donate to Redkite and you can help them, as well as more than 2000 other families like theirs around Australia.
Redkite fundraising general manager Tatiana Isaacs said families in the Fiegerts’ position deserved all the help they could get.
“Childhood cancer can be completely overwhelming,” she said.
Motorists can also help by rounding up the value of their purchase to the nearest dollar at any Coles Express, co-located with Shell service stations, this week.
There is one on Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge and another on the Princes Highway at Tailem Bend.
Coles Express state manager Lauren Howson said many of the company’s employees had children of their own and were passionate about supporting a charity that did so much to help families in need.
Coles Express customers and staff have donated more than $2 million to Redkite since 2019.
