Murray Bridge swimming centre, heated pool will both open next month
The city's council has announced an opening date for the 2022-23 swimming season, and SA Health is about to re-open the hydrotherapy pool at the hospital, too.
If you’ve been hanging out for a swim at the pool, you won’t have to wait much longer.
Murray Bridge Swimming Centre will open on October 29 this year, the city’s council has announced.
Swimmers will still need to book online before heading to the centre, but its capacity will be doubled from 200 to 400 people per session.
Council CEO Michael Sedgman said session times will also change this summer:
- 6.30-9am on weekdays
- 9am-2pm on weekdays
- 2-7pm on weekdays
- 9am-1.30pm on weekends
- 1.30-6pm on weekends
“A shorter session first up in the mornings suits our lap and rehabilitation swimmers, while allowing us to extend other session times, so recreational swimmers can stay longer in the water and (we can) ensure we have enough lifeguards rostered for adequate supervision,” he said.
Entry fees will be the same as last summer: $7 general admission, $5 for children aged three to 12 and free for younger children and over-65s.
The swimming season will continue until April 2, which is the Sunday before Easter and two weeks before the school holidays.
A Vacswim program will be held at the centre from January 16-20.

What about the hydrotherapy pool?
The heated hydrotherapy pool at the Murray Bridge hospital will also reopen in the coming weeks.
A Country Health Connect spokeswoman said patients in need of hydrotherapy treatment would be able to get it – with a referral – from next Tuesday, October 4.
Members of the public will be able to book sessions at a date yet to be determined.
The pool had been closed almost since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
SA Health had long insisted it would reopen once the number of active COVID cases in the Murray Bridge district fell below 100, a milestone achieved in mid-September.
