Murray Bridge mayor thanks his council’s volunteers
To mark National Volunteer Week, from May 15-23, Wayne Thorley has thanked the volunteers who drive change in the community.
This year’s theme of National Volunteer Week, starting on 15 May, is “The Change Makers”, which recognises that volunteering can effect change and include all members of the community.
Murray Bridge Mayor Wayne Thorley expressed his appreciation for the more than 200 volunteers who gave their time to improve the community though council programs.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of the community, and we are grateful for their commitment and contribution,” he said.
“I would like to highlight two outstanding volunteers, Pat Gardner and Robert ‘Bob’ Eisen, who have dedicated 30 and 60 years of their lives, respectively, to serving the community through their contributions to our Community Care, Monarto Hall and the Round House program.”
As National Volunteer Week is a chance to acknowledge the significant impact volunteers have on society, the Murray Bridge council encourages people to thank and appreciate the volunteers in their communities.
The council is currently seeking expressions of interest for volunteers across all its programs.
