Murray Bridge man arrested for growing cannabis

A Murray Bridge man has been charged after a cannabis-growing operation was allegedly discovered at his house on Tuesday.
Police raided the man's property around 11am and allegedly found three mature cannabis plants, plus four kilograms of the drug in its dried form.
The 63-year-old was arrested, charged with growing and possessing the cannabis, and granted bail.
He will appear in court on April 4.

Meanwhile, Crime Stoppers SA CEO Nigel Smart has partnered with SA Police to spread awareness about the dangers of unregistered guns in the Murraylands.
Mr Smart spent last Thursday at the Murray Bridge Marketplace shopping centre, encouraging locals to hand over illegal or unregistered guns, or to let authorities know about them.
“We have seen the tragic loss of life and severe injuries that occur when people turn a blind eye and allow illegal firearms to remain in the community,” he said.
“The demand for illegal firearms is driven by organised crime groups right through to low-level individual criminals who want and use firearms to protect their interests, threaten and intimidate and commit violent acts.
“If you suspect that someone has an illegal gun, share what you know with Crime Stoppers before it is too late.”
Firearms may be surrendered without penalty during the current amnesty, at locations including the Murray Bridge police station and Bridge Hunting Supplies on Adelaide Road.
Ordinarily, anyone caught with an unregistered or illegal gun would be liable to be fined or imprisoned.
