Murray Bridge council will launch loan facility for community groups
The Murray Bridge council is seeking feedback on a draft policy for community loans.
The Murray Bridge council is looking for feedback on a draft policy which would allow it to provide loans to local not-for-profit organisations.
The policy aims to provide a funding mechanism for entities based in Murray Bridge that benefit the community.
Loan applicants must meet specific criteria, and must have exhausted other funding options such as government grants, sponsorship, fundraising and applications for credit from a lending institution.
The draft states that a minimum value of $20,000 and maximum of $100,000 on an individual loan to a community group will be set.
Projects must align with the council's community plan and demonstrate long-term benefits and a clear plan.
Applications are eligible only if the community group is primarily run by volunteers and improves or plans to develop facilities on council-owned or controlled land.
The policy also outlines detailed procedures, more eligibility conditions, and the loan management process.
The consultation will close on August 29 at 5pm.
