Country Fire Service volunteers in Murray Bridge have celebrated their achievements on Tuesday night.

At the brigade meeting a 20-year service medal was awarded to Neil Nason who started in region three bigrade in 2003.

In 2009 he was elected to lieutenant two and then lieutenant on in 2011, finishing that term in 2013.

Mr Nason transferred to Murray Bridge in 2014 where he is currently the equipment coordinator.

He's been a quite achiever, helping out whenever he can and known for his calm nature behind the wheel.

Two ten year service medals were also awarded to Josh Lehman and Madalyn Schulz.

Mr Lehman joined the brigade in 2008 as a cadet and moved up to firefighter before moving away to Queensland in 2014.

But he eventually came back in 2018 and has since been a steady contributor to the brigade both operational and in community events.

Ms Schulz's joined the brigade in 2012, completing a large amount of training over time, including hazmat tech, tactical command and strike tam/sector commander.

She was a senior firefighter for six years and is currently firefighting forestry SA, attending over 560 incidents so far, along with countless trainings and events.

Six others were also recognised for attending the Northern Territory fires in 2023.

The crew included:

  • Aaron Reynolds
  • Scott Carter
  • Robbie Kay
  • Darren Hollit
  • Jake Hodder
  • Ben Mumford

They undertook back burning and dry fire fighting alongside Northern Territory crews.

If you've ever thought about joining up with the Murray Bridge CFS, now's the perfect time, as they are on the search for new members.
