Country Fire Service cadets from across the region have competed for a first place title at the Region Three Cadet Championships.

Brigades from Barmera, Moorook, Morgan, Tailem Bend and Mannum were all represented by their cadets at the Swan Reach Area School on Sunday.

The single-day event featured four cadet firefighting drills, sourced from CFS fireground practices and previous firefighting competitions.

The drills were timed and judged.

Pennants and medals were presented to the winning teams at the end of the day by CFS Deputy Chief Officer Paul Seager.

Mannum claimed their winning title for a third year in a row, after placing first in two of the four drills, followed by Moorook and Morgan, who each placed first in one of the two remaining drills.

Regional volunteer officer Michelle Egel said the event was a fun and exciting day that highlighted the firefighting skills and teamwork among their cadets.

“All 30 cadets in attendance really enjoyed the experience of competing and showing off the valuable firefighting skills they have learnt," she said.

“We hope the event may also help in growing our overall cadet numbers and by showing the meaningful experiences our youth can receive."
