Lower Murray grain harvest of 2020-21 was second biggest ever
The area around Murray Bridge and Mannum has reaped its second-largest grain harvest on record, PIRSA says.

The 2020-21 grain harvest was the second-biggest ever recorded along the Lower Murray, according to Primary Industries and Regions SA.
A total of 375,500 tonnes was harvested in the Murray Bridge and Mid Murray districts.
Barley and wheat made up most of that total, with 194,000 and 138,500 tonnes, respectively.
Yields were well above average around Murray Bridge, PIRSA reported, and quality was very good.
Receival records were broken at Viterra’s Tailem Bend and Monarto South storage facilities in December, and the company’s regional operations manager said growers were enjoying relatively high prices for most commodities, too.
For the state as a whole, the grain harvest of 9.2 million tonnes was the fourth-largest on record.
