Local businesses have celebrated the sounds and excitement of the Bend’s feature event, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, as it boomed into life over the weekend.

The internationally renowned Super Trofeo Asia series was an Australian exclusive, making the Bend Motorsport Park one of only 18 circuits worldwide to have hosted it.

The electrifying event put the the Bend in the company of other top motor racing destinations, like Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit, Japan’s Fuji Speedway, South Korea’s Inje Speedium and China’s Shanghai International Circuit.

A round of Motorsport Australia’s South Australian Motor Racing Championship was also held over the weekend.

From one of Tailem Bend’s newest business operators, Kayla Saunders of the Railway Café, to Deb and Stewart Gower of the town’s iconic Tailem Bend Bakery, business owners said they were pleased with what the Bend brings to the region.

“Due to moving my family to Tailem Bend during the June long weekend, I was only able to open for a short time, but when I did, people flooded in, raving about the speed and the roaring sounds of the Lamborghini Huracáns,” Ms Saunders said.

“The overseas customers said they had never seen so many Huracáns on one grid.

“I can’t wait for the next big event at the Bend – we’ll be ready and waiting.”

“We could not be any happier for what the Bend has brought and continues to bring to our region,” Ms Gower said.

“The Bend has been wonderful for our business.

“We’ve been delivering volunteer lunch packs and all sorts of goods to the Bend for years now – we could not be happier.”

The Bend Motorsport Park constantly promotes the advantages of visiting and staying in the area, endorsing the benefits of relaxing and unwinding in the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong.

With a top speed of 310 kilometres per hour and a purchase price of around $620,000, fans and owners from all over the globe gathered trackside on Saturday and Sunday to see the impressive Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EV02 in action.

Alongside them was track security marshal Matthew Geister.

“I really enjoy working at the Bend, there are opportunities everywhere,” he said.

“They say the Bend is a true driver’s F1-style circuit and everyone loves it, it would have to be the best thing to have happened in South Australia and to motorsport in Australia for years.”

With the King’s Birthday long weekend over, Tailem Bend’s main street traders will now gear up for the Bend Classic to be held on October 25-27.

“It’s three days of roaring classic cars, plenty of Holden versus Ford rivalries, with a strong country theme,” Ms Saunders said.

“I can’t wait to catch up with some of the motorheads on their way through, and as they explore the area in their downtime.”
