Liberals promise 100k for Tailem Bend's RSL
Liberal MP Tony Pasin has made an election promise to members of the RSL sub-branch at Tailem Bend.
If elected, a Liberal federal government would commit $100,000 to upgrade facilities at the Tailem Bend RSL sub-branch.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin, who will be up for reelection in May, made the promise when he visited the RSL on Friday.
The almost century-old building at Tailem Bend has been subject to significant improvements in recent years.
However, further work is needed to improve the safety of the premises, including:
- New flooring
- External painting
- Car park repairs
Currently the car park is soft sand-based and the carpets are damaged, creating hazards for elderly members.
The sub-branch had approached Mr Pasin last year to seek advice on future repairs.
“I fought for and secured this funding commitment from the Dutton Liberal team to assist with renovations because it’s a deserving organisation that contributes so much to the Tailem Bend community,” Mr Pasin said.
“Upon visiting the sub-branch, I was blown away when members showed me the
improvements they have made in recent years.
"It’s no wonder the Tailem Bend sub-branch has such a large membership base comparative to the size of the community.
"It’s such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
"The camaraderie and sense of community that fills the building on a Friday night is heartwarming.”
Mr Pasin said ongoing support for veterans was important as they continue to make positive contributions to their community.
“I support volunteer organisations such as this because I know that they are actively helping to build a strong local community, and strong local communities all contribute to a safe, and prosperous nation,” Mr Pasin said.
A federal election is due to be held on May 3, 10 or 17.
