Nearly two years have passed since journalist Liana Webster joined the Murray Bridge News team. Here's a look back at her time.

It’s been 610 days since I wrote my first story with Murray Bridge News.

Oh how the time flies; since then I’ve graduated from university, turned older and hopefully wiser.

I remember my first interview was with Murray Bridge Community Centre’s Sarah Smith and Jade Porter, talking about a new garden supporting locals in need.

It's always great to have a chat with people who are excited and passionate about what they're doing, which was exactly the case for this story.

In fact, most stories I've had the pleasure of writing for Murray Bridge News have been good local news, highlighting what we're all about: empowering local people, being positive and creating community.

I've gotten to run around and know so many more people in the community since, interviewing businesses, volunteers, organisations and great achievers.

Counting all the articles would be a long task, but I know there have been many – some more interesting than others but all important.

I’ve seen many premierships, local grant success stories, new bin dramas, social photos, op shop shout outs and birthdays.

Murraylands Life magazine has also been great to be a part of, sharing amazing stories of Murraylands locals – my favourite had to be chatting with Glenda Thompson in the 2024 summer edition.

The time spent here in and at Murray Bridge News has been invaluable, so shout out to Jo-en Tabe who sent me the job ad when it came out nearly two years ago.

In the new year I’ll be following my passion and making the move to the city, where I'll be sure to learn many more life lessons – the first one being paying rent and bills.

None of this could have happened without Peri and Jane by my side, supporting me through not only work but uni, and always offering their best advice.

I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience in the journalism industry, so fingers crossed it’s not all downhill from here.

Merry Christmas, happy new year, see you all later!
