Why is John DeMichele running for re-election to the Murray Bridge council?
There’s still more work to be done, the small business owner says.
Murray Bridge is growing and thriving, but that growth needs to be carefully planned.
Residents need to know that the lifestyle they enjoy will be maintained into the future – and they need a voice on the council.
“Our region has so much potential and we've only just begun to scratch the surface of what we have to offer,” John says.
“I would like the opportunity to continue as a councillor, to keep up the work we've already started and continue to make this region great.”
John grew up in Murray Bridge and has lived here his whole life.
He prides himself on being honest, reliable and loyal, whether in business – he and his wife Kim own a real estate agency – or in his personal life, including his volunteer roles with the Imperial Netball Club.
His priorities during the next four years will include:
- Diverting heavy vehicle traffic out of residential areas where possible
- Continuing residential growth and job creation
- Advocating for small businesses
“I want to build this town for tomorrow,” he says.
“Our kids need to have (an environment) that is going to be positive for them over the next decade-plus.
“That means good management from elected members – we have a responsibility to make this town great.”
After four years on the council, he feels like he still has more to give.
“I feel like I have more to offer our community and would love the opportunity to continue my role,” he said.
“I am so proud of our region and I will continue to focus on delivering community needs now and in the future.”
How to vote for John DeMichele
Voters in the Murray Bridge district should have received their ballot papers by post this week.
On the ballot paper listing the 15 council candidates, place a “1” in the box next to DE MICHELE, John; then fill in the numbers 2-9 next to your preferred candidates.
Place your ballot paper in the supplied envelope, seal it, complete the details on the flap and post it back to the Electoral Commission of South Australia by 5pm on November 10.
