Jodie Hawkes appointed new chair of Regional Development Australia board
Bowhill Engineering's co-owner will play a key role in promoting economic growth in the Murraylands.
A new face has been appointed to help promote major developments and jobs growth in the Murraylands.
Bowhill Engineering co-owner Jodie Hawkes became the new chair of Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland on January 1.
Alongside chief executive Ben Fee, board members and staff, Mrs Hawkes will lead the organisation in its mission to grow the region’s economy, businesses, communities and people.
It’s a task for which she'll be well suited, judging by her company’s success – Bowhill Engineering has become a major supplier for projects including Adelaide’s Darlington interchange and the replacement of the River Murray’s ferries.
She had also served on RDA’s local board since 2018.
“It is an honour to be appointed as chair of RDAMR,” Mrs Hawkes said.
“I look forward to driving the workforce, business performance, investment and community resilience outcomes ... that will see us internationally recognised as a vibrant, world leading circular economy by 2030.”
She credited outgoing chair Neil Martinson – Renmark Paringa’s Mayor and the longest-serving chair of any of Australia’s 52 RDA boards – for steering RDA Murraylands and Riverland through the challenges of 2020.
Federal Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories Nola Marino and MP Tony Pasin also paid tribute to Mr Martinson and welcomed Mrs Hawkes to the role.
Her term will run until June 30, 2025.
