International students tour the Murraylands to meet local employers
Forty international students visited the Murraylands on Wednesday to seek out potential employers in the region.

A group of 40 international students have visited the Murraylands this week, getting the chance to meet local employers who are facing skills shortages in the region.
Nursing, social work, engineering and teaching students, living and studying in Adelaide, were part of a regional tour on Wednesday, August 20.
Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Unity College, Bowhill Engineering and the Department for Child Protection all welcomed the students to their worksites during the tour.
The initiative was designed to connect skilled workers with the businesses, industries and regions that are experiencing skills shortages.
Study Adelaide Chief Executive Jane Johnston said the tour is set out to help support international students during their time in South Australia.
“Murray Bridge has a thriving multicultural community and is extremely welcoming to international students,” Ms Johnston said.
“This is a daytrip with a difference.
"Along with enjoying a road trip and lunch at a local hotel and visiting a new part of South Australia, the students will have a valuable opportunity to connect with employers."
A lot of the popular courses studied by international students align with the roles that need to be filled in the Murraylands, she said.
“We know that many employers are facing skills shortages, and the local population alone will not be enough to fill all the roles they need to fill."
More than 540 students have registered interest in joining tours so far this year.

RDA Murraylands and Riverland CEO Ben Fee said the tour was a great opportunity for international students to meet prospective new employees.
“We’re excited to be welcoming international students to our region once again, after many successes over recent years in welcoming graduates into various locations across the region,” Mr Fee said.
“The Murraylands region is set for phenomenal growth with the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan and 17,000 home Gifford Hill development, so we need young talent to take up the career opportunities presented by the region.”
