Houseboat vandalised at Tailem Bend

Police are investigating a break-in at a houseboat at Tailem Bend.
Sometime between June 11 and last Saturday, someone broke into the houseboat, which was moored on the River Murray.
The suspect or suspects stole “numerous items” and caused considerable damage.

Would-be gas bottle thief arrested
Meanwhile, Murray Bridge police have allegedly caught a man in the act of attempting to steal gas bottles from a local business.
They were called to Chris Collins Court around 10.30am last Thursday, after a member of the public reported two men trying to break into a shed.
One had disappeared by the time police arrived, but they arrested the other: a 64-year-old local, allegedly carrying a knife.
Officers charged him with theft, being unlawfully on premises and carrying an offensive weapon, but granted him bail ahead of a court appearance on August 18.

Driver caught doing burnouts
Finally, police have arrested a 40-year-old Murray Bridge man for allegedly doing burnouts in a red Holden sedan with no number plates.
Officers were called out to Lorikeet Avenue around 4pm on Saturday.
They found the vehicle nearby, allegedly unregistered and uninsured, and reported its driver – who allegedly did not have a licence – for misuse of a motor vehicle and three other charges.
They confiscated the Holden for 28 days and warned the man to expect a date in court.
Traffic police also reported a 37-year-old Murray Bridge man for allegedly driving without the alcohol interlock system he had been mandated to use, on Mannum Road around 5pm last Friday.
