Horses steal the show at Coffee with a Cop

It's normally against protocol for police to be ‘horsing around’ with local citizens, but when a cuppa is involved, the rules change.

SA Police ran their third Coffee with a Cop session Tuesday morning at the Murray Bridge Marketplace, giving locals a chance to get to know their local law enforcement and have their queries clarified over a cuppa.

Although the free coffee was a perk, police horses General and Chief undeniably stole the show.

“We had two mounted officers join us this time … they were a big draw card with many people going up to them for a stroke and a pat,” Senior Constable David Brown.

“They were very well behaved and were a big hit with a local day care centre that turned for a photo opportunity.”

Senior Constable Brown said it was always nice to get back in touch with the public through this event.

“We gave out about 10 – 15 coffees to members of the public,” he said.

“It was good to mix with the public on a less formal basis to field some questions and attempt to address some of their local issues, thus helping to break down the barriers between the Police and public.

“Anything I couldn’t address at the time (has been) taken further to resolve.”

Coffee with a Cop will return to the marketplace on November 1.
