Playground upgrades are coming to Magpie Drive, Torrens Road reserves

Two Murray Bridge playgrounds are due for upgrades – and local kids can help decide what equipment they need.
New play equipment is due to be installed at Magpie Drive Reserve, on the south side of town, and Torrens Road Reserve, at Riverglades, in the coming months.
The Murray Bridge council has launched a survey asking children and their parents for their input.
Council CEO Heather Barclay said playgrounds were an important building block for any community.
“We know from recent community workshops, and from the Baker Reserve consultation last year, that families and residents are really passionate about their communities and have some great ideas about how we can make the best use of recreation spaces,” she said.
“Rather than council deciding what we think would work best, we’d like community members to complete the survey and tell us what they want to see.
“If you’d like to see musical equipment, a uniquely shaped climbing structure, Indigenous heritage or any other elements included, fill out the survey and let us know.”
It wasn’t just play equipment the council wanted to know about either, she said – what about seating, shade, barbecues, toilets or other features that would benefit parents and carers?

Meanwhile, the council, Murray Bridge Community Centre and Wellbeing SA are encouraging families to get out and explore more of the district’s playgrounds this school holidays.
First, pick up a Playground Detectives map and entry form from the community centre on Beatty Terrace, the Square on South Terrace, the visitor information centre across the road or Murray Bridge Library.
Next, visit five of the eight participating playgrounds across the district: Avoca Dell Reserve, Monarto Recreation Centre, or Murray Bridge’s Christian Reserve, McNamara Park, Oak Avenue Reserve, Parkview Reserve, Homburg Park or War Memorial Park.
Answer the questions about each playground, drop your form back where you got it by October 16 and you’ll go into a draw for a $50 Sportspower voucher.
