Governor Frances Adamson visits the Murraylands
Her Excellency has stopped by Unity College and Thomas Foods International on a brief vice-regal tour.
A Murray Bridge school and a leading business have welcomed a visit from the Governor of South Australia.
Sharp-eyed locals spotted the vice-regal Lexus cruising around on Wednesday as Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC and her husband called in at Unity College.
There she met senior student leaders, house captains, year 9 and 5 ambassadors and members of the junior student representative council for a chat about leadership and community service.
Her Excellency shared some of her own experiences, and encouraged the students to lead by valuing others’ efforts and ideas.
“I encourage you to venture outside your comfort zone and surround yourself with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and viewpoints,” she said.
“Don’t ever be afraid to take risks or try new things, so long as you are willing to learn from your mistakes.
“From mistakes we learn and grow.”
House captain Abby Harrowfield said she and her fellow students were grateful for the Governor’s advice about engaging people by listening and asking questions.
During the afternoon, Her Excellency visited Thomas Foods International at Pallamana.
Some of the company’s leaders brought her up to speed on the state-of-the-art facility and the contribution it made to feeding Australia and the world.
They also spoke about the connections TFI had with South Australian farmers.
