Flood recovery meeting will be held at Murray Bridge Town Hall this Thursday
Recovery coordinator Alex Zimmerman and representatives of the council and state government will be there to take locals' questions.
What is being done to help Murraylands communities recover from the River Murray floods?
Locals will be able to come and find out at a public meeting at Murray Bridge Town Hall from 6pm this Thursday.
State recovery coordinator Alex Zimmerman will lead the meeting, which was only announced this Tuesday.
“These (meetings) have proven to be highly informative for the local community who are eager to hear the latest news on the process going forward,” he said in an email update.
Agencies including the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, SA Power Networks, the Murray Bridge council and Green Industries SA will also be represented at the meeting.
Light refreshments will be available.
Proceedings will be live-streamed on the Murray Bridge Performing Arts and Function Centre’s YouTube channel for anyone unable to attend.
Murray Bridge News will also report on the meeting.
Flood relief centre closes
Meanwhile, Murray Bridge’s flood relief centre has closed – again without any announcement by the state government.
A new recovery centre has opened up in the former bank building at 28 Bridge Street, replacing the former relief centre which had been based at the Rambler Football Club.
Locals in need of help should go to the new Bridge Street centre between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.
