A Murray Bridge family has escaped a fire which destroyed a shed behind their home on Hill Street on Monday.
The fire broke out around midday and quickly took hold, sending thick smoke billowing into the air.
The Metropolitan Fire Service even issued a warning to surrounding residents at 12.40pm, urging them to keep doors and windows closed.
Several fire crews, wearing breathing apparatus, took about an hour and a half to bring the blaze under control.
A man and an infant were home at the time the fire broke out, but retreated a few doors down the street while firefighters did their thing.
The shed had been full of treasured belongings and was not insured, one of the residents told Murray Bridge News.
He speculated that the fire may have started in a washing machine.
