Alleged shoplifter arrested at Murray Bridge shopping centre

Police have arrested an Adelaide man over alleged theft and offensive behaviour at a Murray Bridge shopping centre.

Around 3.30pm on Friday, a member of the public alerted a passing police officer about the 36-year-old man, who had allegedly stolen alcohol, an energy drink and sunglasses from three nearby stores.

He allegedly waved a lighter wand at staff – the sort of thing you might light a barbecue with.

Police recovered the items, laid charges against the man and released him on bail ahead of a court appearance in Murray Bridge on July 14.

Drink driver loses her licence after crash

A 24-year-old Rockleigh woman has lost her licence for a year, and her Ford sedan for 28 days, after crashing it in Murray Bridge last Wednesday night.

Police attended the scene of the crash on Olympic Drive around 10.30pm.

They breath-tested the Ford’s driver, and she allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.179, more than three times the legal limit.

They also allegedly found a “large samurai-style knife” in the vehicle.

Officers reported the woman for drink driving, driving without due care and carrying an offensive weapon, and warned her to expect a summons to court.

Teenager caught up in Adelaide car chase

Finally, a 19-year-old Murray Bridge man is among four people who were arrested after a stolen car was stopped in Adelaide last week.

Officers spotted the Isuzu ute on Glen Osmond Road just before 10pm last Monday.

A helicopter tracked it around to West Thebarton, where it collided with an unmarked police car.

All four of the ute’s occupants allegedly ran from the scene but were caught soon afterwards, and each charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.

The ute had been reported stolen in Ceduna on May 1.
