Car thieves run down couple at Cooke Plains
Plus two people escape a truck fire on the South Eastern Freeway and SA Police respond to three local traffic offences.
A man and woman have been hospitalised after being run over with their own car on Monday night.
A group of four thieves reportedly stole the white 2019 Toyota Hilux, registration S924DAK, from the couple’s house at Cooke Plains just after 8pm.
The 59-year-old man and 49-year-old woman tried to stop them, but were hit as the thieves sped off.
They were treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Hilux was last seen travelling up the Dukes Highway towards Tailem Bend.

Pair escape truck fire on the South Eastern Freeway
Meanwhile, two people have escaped a hay truck which caught on fire on the South Eastern Freeway early on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called out to the fire at Gifford Hill just before 4am.
City-bound traffic on the freeway was restricted for several hours.
Police did not believe the fire was suspicious.
Drink driver fined after crash at Tailem Bend
Finally, a Murray Bridge man has lost his licence for six months and copped a fine after crashing his car at Tailem Bend on Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old reportedly crashed in the car park of a hotel on the Princes Highway around 3.15pm.
He allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.089 in a police breath test afterwards.
Police also reported two drivers in Murray Bridge over the weekend:
- A 38-year-old Mount Barker man was allegedly caught driving while unlicensed, with methamphetamine in his system and a child in the car, on Cypress Terrace, Murray Bridge at 1pm on Sunday
- A 33-year-old Woodville woman was allegedly caught driving on a suspended licence on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge around 5.30pm on Sunday
