A 40-year-old man is in hospital in a critical condition after a single-vehicle crash at Brinkley on Monday morning.

The man from Lake Plains, near Milang, crashed his Toyota ute into a tree around 6.30am.

He was the only person in the vehicle, and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Brinkley Road remained closed at 11.30am, with a detour in place from Langhorne Creek Road all the way up to the five-way Martin/Baker/Usher Road intersection.

Emergency services and major crash investigators have attended the scene.

It was at least the eighth serious crash on Brinkley Road since 2020, according to Department for Infrastructure and Transport data.

Three people have died on the road during that period, including a cyclist hit by a car in 2021, and two motorcyclists who ran off the road in 2020.
