One of the suspects was allegedly armed with a machete, but fortunately no entry was gained and the trio left the scene.

After further investigation, three Murray Bridge men aged 18, 19 and 22 were arrested; police believed that all parties were known to each other.

All three suspects were charged with attempted serious criminal trespass and property damage, while the 22-year-old man was also charged with carrying an offensive weapon.

They were all refused bail and later remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.

Counterfeit cash detected in Murray Bridge

Murraylands cashiers and customers are being urged to be vigilant after a number of fake bank notes were found in Murray Bridge over the weekend.

A police search on Saturday uncovered counterfeit cash with a face value of thousands of dollars, in $100, $50 and $20 notes.

Police did not disclose the address of the property they searched, nor have they yet arrested anyone.

However, they urged anyone who handles cash to take a close look and make sure it is genuine.

To inspect a note:

  • Hold it up to the light โ€“ a seven-pointed star and the Australian coat of arms should become visible in the older notes, produced from 1995
  • Check that any clear sections are part of the note
  • Tilt it โ€“ some features on the newer notes, produced in the past 5-10 years, should change in appearance
  • Place it under a UV light if you have one โ€“ some features should glow

Anyone who thinks they have a counterfeit note should handle it as little as possible, put it in an envelope and record information about when, where and who you got it from.

Business owners may also be able to help by providing descriptions or CCTV footage of suspicious people.

Firebug caught on Pump Road

Meanwhile, a Murray Bridge man will face court, after being caught lighting a fire, among other offences.

He was charged with allegedly lighting a fire in fire danger season, hindering police, disorderly behaviour and throwing a missile after allegedly throwing a rock at CFS crews.

Fire danger season had started on Saturday, just one day before.
