Mullets as far as the eye could see, flannies galore, and plenty of folks enjoying a coldie or three – a bogan cabaret at Tailem Bend has provided an absolute rip-snorter of a night.

Tailem Bend Town Hall was chockers on the night of November 2 for the fundraising event for the upcoming Christmas parade, organised by the local progress association – and crikey, what a night it was.

Maxine Kiddie ran the show with a host of great local volunteers, and they couldn’t have been more stoked with the outcome.

“We had an absolute cracker of a night,” she said.

“A big shout-out to all the legends who donated raffle prizes – strewth, we had over 100 of ‘em this year – and an extra-massive thank you to everyone who rocked up in their finest bogan gear.”

With the committee stumped for a theme this year, the decision to go full bogan was a pearler.

“Why not?” Ms Kiddie said.

“Everyone loves a good bogan.”

The cabaret raised much-needed funds for the Tailem Bend Christmas Parade, which is not far away now – it will be on Saturday, December 14.

Maxine reckoned this year’s parade would be the best one yet, with Father Christmas making his usual appearance.

“We’ve got free rides for the ankle-biters, live tunes from Arkive and face painting – the kids go bonkers for that,” she said.

“It’s always a ripper day to catch up with mates and make some memories.”

So dust off your best clobber, because Tailem Bend is ready to spread some Christmas cheer.
