Black Dog Ride hits the road for suicide prevention
An eight day bike ride helping raise awareness on depression and suicide prevention is coming to Murray Bridge, on Saturday.

Murray Bridge will be the second stop for riders apart of the eight day Black Dog Ride this weekend, raising awareness on depression and suicide prevention.
Riders from across the state will travel more than 2,571 kilometres from Mount Gambier to Murray Bridge, Nuriootpa, Wallaroo, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Port Augusta and Berri, from October 18 to 25.
The cohort will be hosting a dinner at the Swanport Hotel from 6.30pm, where the community is welcome to join and have a chat.
All funds raised go towards Black Dog Australia Community Grants, helping local groups raise awareness on depression and suicide prevention, and fund mental health programs.
Craig Goodman, South Australia coordinator and volunteer said funding mental health programs in local communities like Murray Bridge is at the heart of everything the not-for-profit organisation does.
"Black Dog Ride could not do what we do without every dollar raised or every kilometre ridden in support of our events and rides.
"We are so grateful for local communities like Murray Bridge who help raise funds to allow us to give back to those in need of mental health programs through our Black Dog Australia Community Grants.
"Our mission is to break down the barrier of silence and encourage family, friends and colleagues to seek help on depression and prevent suicide, as we believe managing mental health can lead to meaningful, fulfilling lives," he said.
Murray Bridge schools, clubs, community groups and individuals are encouraged to raise awareness and support the cause by organising local fundraising activities and events or simply donating.
Founded in 2009, the ride has raised more than $4 million, including a multicultural mental health first aid course in Murray Bridge.
