Australia Post delivers funding for Murray Bridge teen mental health program
Australia Post’s 2023 Community Grants program has provided $10,000 to the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge to support teen mental health.
A $10,000 Australia Post grant will go towards a teen mental health first aid program at Murray Bridge High School, delivered by Safer Communities.
The program will provide eight groups of 30 students with important skills and knowledge that can help them assist a peer experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
Rotary Club of Murray Bridge vocational director Lyn Sickerdick said the funding would benefit high school students.
“This program will upskill approximately 240 local teenagers by teaching them important skills to aid peers experiencing a mental health problem or crisis,” she said.
Australia Post’s 2023 community crants have provided nationwide funding for 72 not-for-profit community groups whose projects support mental health and greater connection in their communities.
The federal Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland, thanked the grant recipients for their valuable work.
“It’s fantastic to see so many incredibly deserving community organisations – particularly in rural and regional areas – receive support through Australia Post’s Community Grants program,” she said.
