Tailem Bend is set to burst into colour this Sunday with an exciting community event, Art in the Park, sponsored by the Coorong District Council and Tammi Schubert of Revival Retreat as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival.

The free celebration will take place from 9am in the train playground on Railway Terrace.

A highlight will be a unique workshop for 10 local teens, aged 14–18, who will have the chance to learn airbrush and aerosol art with acclaimed artist Jess Haynes.

Two students each from Unity College, Murray Bridge High School, Karoonda Area School, Meningie Area School and Coomandook Area School have been chosen to take part in the hands-on sessions.

Spectators can watch the budding artists in action during two public classes at 9am and 1.30pm.

Event organiser Tammi Schubert said she hoped Art in the Park would become an annual fixture.

“It’s about giving young people a free creative platform, but also to bring our community together to celebrate art across the Murraylands and Coorong region,” she said.

Alongside the workshops, the day will feature a showcase of regional artists, entertainment for all ages, and plenty of opportunities to chat, connect, and enjoy the vibrant local arts scene.

“This is for children of all ages, families, and anyone who loves creativity,” Ms Schubert said.

“It’s something we can build on year after year.”
