Adelaide Symphony Orchestra visits Tailem Bend
Hundreds of people have turned out to hear some of South Australia's best classical musicians play a free concert.
More than 370 people have attended two concerts given by members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at Tailem Bend Town Hall.
Conducted by Martin Butler, and with a guest appearance by Richard Meyer, players from the orchestra's string and percussion sections performed an hour of music for the concerts, titled October.
An audience first of Tailem Bend Primary School students, then of members of the general public, heard works from as far back as the 17th century and as recent as the Beatles, Isaac Hayes' Shaft theme and A.R. Rahman's score for Slumdog Millionaire.
The musicians were given gifts by members of the Tailem Bend history group by way of thanks for their performance, which was free.
The visit was organised by Tailem Bend Community Centre through Community Centres SA.
