Eight kilograms of meth seized on the Princes Highway
Police have arrested a 32-year-old New South Wales man after he was stopped at Tailem Bend.
A man has been arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs after being stopped at Tailem Bend on Tuesday.
At 9pm police stopped and searched a vehicle on the Princes Highway.
The search allegedly located, and officers seized, eight kilograms of methamphetamine and $3000 in cash.
A 32-year-old man from Carlingford, New South Wales was arrested and charged with trafficking a commercial amount of a controlled drug.
He was refused bail and will appear before the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court.
The arrest came as a result of a joint operation involving SAPOL’s serious and organised crime branch, Australian Federal Police and NSW Police, together with uniformed patrols from the Murray Mallee area.
Detective Superintendent Shane Addison, officer in charge of SA Police’s serious and organised crime branch, said this was an example of SAPOL's commitment to working cooperatively with partner law enforcement agencies.
"This operation has prevented a significant quantity of methamphetamine from being distributed into the South Australian community where it would have caused further harm and distress,” he said.
There have been several similar busts at Tailem in the past 12 months, including $2.5 million worth of drugs found in January.
