A local man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Murray Bridge on Tuesday.

Paramedics were called to an address on Neumann Avenue shortly before midday.

When they arrived, they found the 34-year-old man with a wound on the back of his head.

SA Police detectives are investigating the apparent attack, which they do not believe was random.

Forensic experts examined the scene during the afternoon.

Witnesses sought after truck driver leaves crash scene near Wellington

Meanwhile, police are seeking witnesses after a motorcyclist was forced off the road by a truck traveling on the wrong side of the Princes Highway at Poltalloch on Sunday.

Just before 8pm on May 4, police and emergency services responded to a motorcycle crash on the Princes Highway between Wellington and Meningie.

The rider was critically injured and airlifted to hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle was forced off the road by a truck travelling in the opposite direction, veering onto the wrong side of the road and into the motorcyclist's lane.

The truck did not stop at the scene.

Extreme speeder caught at Monarto

Finally, a 28-year-old woman has been caught going 80 kilometres per hour over the speed limit at Monarto South.

At about 9pm last Wednesday, a Holden sedan was allegedly detected on the South Eastern Freeway travelling at 180km/h in a signed 100km/h zone.

The woman from Woods Point was reported for extreme speed, exceeding the speed limit and breaking provisional licence conditions.

She was issued a 12-month instant loss of licence, and her vehicle was impounded and she will be summoned to court.

Also in the area, a Murray Bridge man was charged for allegedly returning a positive result to a drug test on Sunday, after police pulled him over on Bridge Street.
