Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion

Lions are always there to support local, state and the global community in times of need.

What better time to highlight some of the Lions Club of Murray Bridge City’s many achievements than March 4, Lions Awareness Day?

The Lions Club has assisted those in our local community impacted by recent floods, providing catering and personal care packs, simply working together to make an incredible difference.

Along with assisting in disaster relief, the club’s focus is on supporting people with cancer – with night-time chemo caps provided at no cost to recipients –  as well as supporting the homeless by providing personal care packs to local agencies to ensure people have basic items we take for granted, such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs and underarm deodorant.

The club has reduced hunger through donations to Foodbank; and rather than having a Kris Kringle at its Christmas breakup, members donated items of food, enough to feed 10 families.

The club has also helped the environment with recycling cans, bottle tops and glasses projects.

Since its formation in Lismore, New South Wales, in 1947, Lions Australia has grown to be the largest service club organisation in Australia, and looks forward to making an even bigger difference in the future.

Murray Bridge City Lions are in need of volunteers to enable us to continue to have fun and fellowship with like-minded people to assist our community.
