NAIDOC Week will come to a close on Friday with celebrations in three Murraylands towns.

At Tailem Bend’s Willow Street precinct, flags will be raised, songs sung and dances performed at a morning tea to be held from 10am.

Coorong Mayor Paul Simmons has invited locals to participate.

“NAIDOC Week is a great opportunity for community members to engage in Indigenous culture and participate in a range of activities in support of our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities,” he said.

Mannum will also get its own celebration thanks to the Mannum Aboriginal Community Association, Mid Murray Council and Mannum Community College.

Friday

NAIDOC Week community barbecue: From 9.30am at Murray Bridge Community Centre, 18 Beatty Terrace. Free breakfast hosted by the Spirited Men’s and Uniting Communities Group.

NAIDOC Week together as one march: From 10am at the Mid Murray Council office, 49 Adelaide Road, Mannum. Welcome to country, flag-raising, smoking ceremony; march to the showgrounds; then games, dot painting, wurly-making and a barbecue lunch.

NAIDOC Week: From 10am at the Willow Street Precinct, Tailem Bend. Flag-raising ceremony, morning tea and entertainment. RSVP: 1300 785 277.

Cry Wolf: 7-11pm at the Wellington Hotel. Live music.

Saturday
