What’s it like to grow old in Murray Bridge? Jane Mussared would love to know

If you’re over the age of 50, Jane Mussared wants to have a conversation with you.

The chief executive of the Council on the Ageing SA, which advocates for older South Australians, will visit Murray Bridge next Wednesday afternoon.

She hopes to chat with as many local people as she can about the pros and cons of living in a regional community, so she can better understand our concerns and take them to state and federal decision-makers.

“Older people living in regional towns often tell us they love their communities and their local friendships,” she said.

“However, they’re often concerned about social isolation and loneliness if they must give up driving, they’re frustrated by not being able to access information if they are not online, and they’re worried about access to the health and support services they need to continue living independently.

“We would love to hear their side of the story ... and about their ideas that will help them live and age well.”

COTA’s country programs officer, Helen Morley, will also be along for the ride.
